Lesson 10: Make up Tips/ GREAT Products!

The reason I decided to do this blog post, is because I used to work for Lancome; and I used to have so many customers not know how to do their makeup. They wanted a certain look, yet never knew how to do it. The old saying “less is more”, is definitely true when it comes to makeup. Of course, if there is a certain event, such as a wedding or prom, you want your makeup to be able to last the entire night, however, the key is to make it look like you aren’t wearing any make up at all. The natural look is in right now, and here is a list of a couple products that help that natural look cross over.

Foundation: Bare Minerals

What it does: The award-winning foundation provides impeccable coverage for every skin type and tone, and also protects with a natural SPF 15 broad spectrum UVA/UVB shield. They say that this makeup so pure you can sleep in it. It is also great for all ages, and they have different colors for every skin tone!

Mascara:  Definicils Precious Cells

What it does: This mascara is great for lash separation, and great to lengthen the lashes. It doesn’t give too much volume, so I would say this is more of a daytime mascara. However, if you use a primer before, this mascara can definitely give a “night look”. It also helps with lash fall out!

Eye shadow: Urban Decay

What it does: Urban Decay has an amazing amount of eye shadow colors, and anyone can find a great palette that will compliment their skin tone/ eye color. My personal favorite palette is the Vegan Palette. These colors are great for hazel eyes!

Eyeliner: Lancome Art liner

What it does: This eyeliner is the best liquid eyeliner I have ever used. It comes in great colors, and is easy to manage. It is the only eyeliner I ever used, that I do not have to constantly re-apply throughout the day or night.

Lipstick/ Lip-gloss: MAC Tinted Lip glass

What it does: This is a unique lip-gloss that has a wide variety of colors! I love this because it has multiple uses. It can be very natural and sheer, or it can create a high gloss. My favorite color is Oyster Girl!

Lesson 9:Public Speaking

The reason I decided to write this specific entry, is because so many people I know, fear public speaking. They could be the most outgoing, interesting, person; some of these people are often so witty and quick during normal conversation; yet, when they get in front of a crowd, they become so awkward and nervous. Why is this?! I really don’t know. I used to get really scared, and sometimes when I have to do a presentation, my body LOOKS nervous, but I am not nervous at all. It’s the weirdest thing. I understand that presentations and public speaking can be an awkward situation, however, it is something most of us will have to do during different (AND IMPORTANT) parts of our lives. Whether it is making a business sale, or a toast at a wedding, public speaking is something that goes a lot smoother, when the person is confident.

The ultimate and cliché tip is to imagine the audience in their underwear. Although it is so typical, it does help. A sense of relief comes over the speaker, and everything seems much lighter.

It is also important for the speaker to be confident in their message. There have been times that I was so confident and proud of what I was saying, that I wouldn’t have cared if Obama were in the audience. (Well maybe that’s a lie) Then there were times that I did the project last minute, and even my best friend being in the audience wouldn’t alleviate any stress. My point is- if you are confident in your work that confidence will shine through. It is easy to be convinced of something, when the message is delivered in such an eloquent way!

Lesson 8: Pregnancy Support!

I decided to write this blog, because my sister is pregnant. She is 3 months pregnant, and I just recently realized how much she truly needs constant love and support. She has a husband, who loves her too death, and my whole family is very supportive and excited, however I realized that I should be there for her more. I am her only sister, and I should show her that I am so excited and proud of her. She is going through so many changes, and I realize that I should show her in many ways that I am thinking of her.

One way of showing her I care, is every day, when I run an errand (she lives in my upstairs apartment so this is a very simple gesture), I call her or text her before hand to see if she needs anything. Whether it is food shopping, or renting a movie, I try to let her know I am thinking about her, and if she needs me to do anything, I will do it for her.

Her favorite drink is a chocolate banana smoothie from Starbucks, so I try to stop by there on my way home from work and pick her up one. Whether it is a surprise, or I ask her if she wants one before hand, it always makes her happy. Being thoughtful is something that makes a pregnant woman (or anybody) very happy!

I also try to ask her questions that excite her about being pregnant. She seems to be nervous (which is normal and completely understandable), so I try to focus on all the exciting things, and not the scary ones. For example, we go to stores to look at baby clothes, or discuss potential baby names, etc. I show her I’m interested, and I allow her to talk about it whenever she wants. I want her to know that I am there for her, no matter what!
